Check Up & Clean St Ives

A check up and clean is recommended every 6 monthly to stay on top of your oral health.

In general a Check up and Clean will include;

Check up: an overall assessment of teeth, gums and soft tissue and determine if further treatment is required
Scale and clean: removal of hard tartar, soft plaque and bacteria
Xrays: as a standard practice, x-rays are taken 2-3 yearly (unless required otherwise) to assess small cavities forming in-between the teeth, or under existing fillings. It is a very valuable diagnostic tool to help assess the need or delay of treatment
Fluoride treatment: if deemed necessary, fluoride may be placed on teeth to prevent the progression of cavities

Here at St Ives Smiles, we encourage all patients to have their routine Check Up and Clean completed 6 monthly, so that we can catch things early. The Dental Hygienist will complete a thorough and gentle scale and clean, while Dr Hockey and Dr Sacks assesses the mouth for any dental concerns.
